My passion lies with assessing and diagnosing hearing issues in the paediatric population. Childhood hearing loss can negatively impact on a child’s speech, learning and behaviour. Timely treatment and intervention are key but navigating appropriate referral pathways once hearing loss has been detected can be confusing and complicated for both parents and health professionals. This often results in unnecessary delays and wastes valuable intervention time. Earbox promises to bring clarity and efficiency to the whole process ensuring no child ‘falls through the cracks’.
Janice Fitzgerald founded Earbox Audiology in 2018 to make paediatric audiology more accessible and affordable for families living in the Northern Suburbs. She graduated from UWA in 2007 with a Master of Clinical Audiology. Since then, she has been working with children in various different audiology roles and for several paediatric ENT specialists.
Earbox specialises in testing children’s hearing and assessing their middle ear health for conditions such as ‘glue ear’. Earbox runs regular clinics from a sound-treated consultation room within Butler Family Practice. Using latest audiology equipment and technology, tests indicate whether onward referral to an ENT specialist for ear/hearing issues is required. Test results are downloaded into a report for each child.
